‘Alinaqi Vaziri

‘Alinaqi Vaziri (Colonel), the son of Bibi Khanum Astarabadi and Musa Khan Vaziri, was born in 1887 or 1888. He first married Akhtar A‘zam and they had a daughter named Badr Afaq. He later married ‘Azra Hijazi. ‘Alinaqi Vaziri died in 1979 or 1980.

‘Alinaqi Vaziri (Colonel), the son of Bibi Khanum Astarabadi and Musa Khan Vaziri, was born in 1887. He is often referred to as the father of Iranian music. He joined the military at the age of 14. His music training started at the same time. His maternal uncle, Husayn ‘Ali Khan taught him to play the tar. He left military service in 1917 and, after the end of World War I he went to Europe to study music with the support of Mustafa Quli Bayat. He opened the Superior School of Music upon his return. A major part of the second volume of "The Story of Iranian Music" by Ruh Allah Khaliqi is about ‘Alinaqi Vaziri. He married Akhtar A‘zam when he was 19 and they had a daughter named Badr Afaq. This marriage ended in divorce. In 1937, he married ‘Azra Hijazi. ‘Alinaqi Vaziri died in 1979 or 1980. Close
