Furugh al-Dawlah (Malakah Iran)

b. 1862 or 1863
d. June or July 1917

Furugh al-Dawlah (Malakah Iran), the daughter of Khazin al-Dawlah and Nasir al-Din Shah, was born in 1862 (or 1863). She was the eighth daughter of Nasir al-Din Shah and sister of Fakhr al-Dawlah. After the death of Khazin al-Dawlah, Khujastah Khanum Taj al-Dawlah (Nasir al-Din Shah's first permanent wife after his coronation) raised the two sisters. Furugh al-Dawlah married ʻAli Khan Davallu Qajar Zahir al-Dawlah in 1879 (or 1880). They had four daughters and three sons: Qamar al-Sultan ʻAziz al-Muluk, Malik al-Muluk, Malakah Afaq Ashraf al-Dawlah, Zahra Sultan Furugh al-Mulk (Valiyah Safa), Nasir Quli Muzaffar al-Dawlah, Nasir ʻAli Khan, and Muhammad Nasir Zahir al-Sultan. She died in June (or July) 1917. In various sources, the two sisters are called Turan Aqa (Agha) and Tuman Aqa (Agha) differently. It is not clear in their own time which name referred to which sister. For instance, in Khatirat-i Iʻtimad al-Saltanah [Iʻtimad al-Saltanah's Diaries] p. 865 Fakhr al-Dawlah is called Tuman Aqa, in Khatirat-i ʻAyn al-Saltanah [ʻAyn al-Saltanah's Diaries] (volume 9, p. 7133) Turan Aqa refers to Fakhr al-Dawlah.

Furugh al-Dawlah and Zahir al-Dawlah's house was destroyed in the bombardment of the Majlis. Muhammad ʻAli Shah and his wife, Malakah Jahan, tried to mollify them.
